Arishta & Asava
Asavas and Arishtas are medicinal preparations made by soaking the herbs, in liquid or powder form, in sugar or jaggery syrup, for a specified period of time. During this period, the mixture undergoes fermentation thus generating alcohol, which serves as a preservative.
Though both Asava and Arishta are similar in their texture, Asava, unlike Arishta, is prepared from the juices of fresh plants or water soaked dry drugs.
Parathuvayalil Pharmacy manufactures more than 30 varieties of Arishtas and Asavas. Some of them are:

Tailam, Kuzhambu, Keram (Medicated Oils)
Tailam, Kuzhambu, and Keram are medicated oils. The term Taila is derived from the word 'Til' which is the Hindi name for sesame seeds. Most Tailam preparations are made with the oil of sesame seeds. A few concoctions also use coconut oil, castor oil, ghee, muscle fat etc. The medicated oils are used both externally and internally.
The desirable properties of the herbs are imparted into the oils by boiling them or their juices in the oils. The resultant medicine has the properties of the drugs with which it was treated. Parathuvayalil Ayurvedic Pharmaceuticals produces more than sixty five type of medicated oils.
